Dance Niño, Dance!
<< Back
In my mothers hand I witnessed Niño, a porcelain doll, mysteriously dance. It danced again and again to the beautiful hymns of my mother’s voice. Dance Niño, Dance! I would say.
What you need: You need any type of doll with a flat base. Usually, you can find porcelain dolls or religious dolls to have one. Look at the above photo for an example. The width of the base should be no larger than that of the palm. Also, the doll needs to have a fair amount of weight.
Secret?
The secret to this effect lies in your subconscious. The method is known as the ideomotor effect. Your mind speaks to your subconscious allowing your conscious to signal the necessary reflexes to make the doll dance. The same methods used for dowsing and ouija boards.

Set the base of the doll in the middle of your flattened palm. The flatter your palm the easier the doll will dance. Only the wrist needs to turn at that point. The doll acts like a pendulum, it swings back and forth, round and round in a somewhat dancing fashion.
With a little practice you can signal the doll to dance in an instant. Be open-minded.
Other stuff:
Using principles of suggestion prevalent to mentalism, you can influence your spectators subconscious and cause the doll to begin dancing in their hands.
A friend of mine uses this effect for a revelation. While the doll swings back and forth an eerie smoke appears coming from the base. When he turns the doll over, the name of a thought of person is revealed burned in the base.
